Louisville Chiropractor Is Advocate For Health And Life

network life center

Length of time in care: Just over a year.

What brought you to the Network Life Center?

I had a good conversation with Jay during a time when I was experiencing a lot of discomfort in my body. He told me why he was doing this kind of work in the world, and it made sense to me. I actually thought, "Oh, that's the kind of work that I'm trying to do in the world too." He felt like a real person, rather than a far-away doctor, and this appealed to me. I've always felt strange with regard to the typical doctor-patient relationship, where it's assumed that I don't know anything about my own body. Jay alluded to a very different relationship, one more like a partnership, where we work towards my health and wellness together.

What results have you experienced?

I've realized through this experience that I'm a very results-driven person, when it comes to healthcare. I had a lot of skepticism come up initially in my time with Jay, but slowly started trusting the process more and more. I have experienced a kind of care that is very different-it's based on where I'm at on any given day: what stresses are present for me, what I've been feeling in my body, what questions I've had come up regarding life. Although the care is obviously impacting my body in a big way (I feel like my posture is completely different now than it was at the beginning), it's also impacting my life in a big way. I am much more inclined to sit with feelings of discomfort and pause, rather than feeling frustrated and wanting to "get rid" of pain in my body. I think of pain in my body as an important clue about what I'm currently experiencing/learning in my life.

Why do you continue to receive care?

This is not an overnight process. I realize that the patterns I've unconsciously or consciously formed in my body, and in my life, are embedded really deeply. As I start to feel what it's like to unravel those patterns, it makes me curious about what else is in store for me. I want to live a full and joyful life, as a well person, and so I am dedicated to receiving the care and support I need in order to make that happen. I look forward to my visits with Jay and feel that I have an advocate for my health and for my life in him.

What experiences do you enjoy most at the Network Life Center?

I enjoy the opportunity to be really aware of my body, and to feel like I'm "coming into relationship" with parts of myself that I haven't had access to before. I like talking about the process with Jay, and feeling encouraged about the changes that are happening.
