Transform Tough Life Circumstances Into Healing

This video was helpful for me recently as I was getting a little stuck in thinking that my life circumstances were being a little too hard on me. Like most people I can tend to associate the feeling of happiness with certain situations in my life: having a decent job, living in relative comfort, having stable relationships, having my body work like I think it should, etc... The problem with that is that we can get hooked on this relative surface level of happiness and the life situations that we associate with it. The fact is that those life situations WILL change. This is true especially if we're on a healing journey of any sort (we're all on a healing journey whether we know it or not). If we're interested in our growth and evolution as a person then we must accept that, from time to time, there will be turbulence in our life circumstances. If we're going to move to a higher level of organization in our bodies and lives then those old situations have to give way to new ones. In the interim there WILL be some chaos. Leonardo Da Vinci said, afterall, that "Motion is created by the destruction of balance."

It has been my experience that by meeting these tough life circumstances with an open heart, I begin to strengthen something inside of myself. There seems to be some part of me that I connect to that KNOWS that things are moving in the right direction; in the direction that they're supposed to move in. Every time I encounter tough life situations this KNOWING part of me says, "Remember the last time and remember the time before that? You made it through and felt very satisfied when you did. What makes you think it won't be the same this time? Let's do it." Happiness is a mere precursor; a subset of a deep, lasting satisfaction. This deep satisfaction is a sensation that remains there no matter what's going on around me. Every time I go through tough situations with an open heart that feeling of deep, lasting satisfaction gets stronger.

Watch this video and see if you don't sense in this guy some deep peace; some deep level of satisfaction even though, from a certain perspective, we could say that he's got a lot to be unhappy about. Not only is he happy. He carries with him a deep, lasting satisfaction.

(I couldn't say this with so much certainty if I weren't receiving care on a regular basis and meditating to strengthen my connection to this KNOWING part of me.)
